Saudi King Congratulates President Trump on ISIS ‘Victory’ in Mosul

The White House announced Friday that Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud congratulated President Donald Trump and the United States Military for the victory over the Islamic State in Mosul.

“King Salman congratulated President Trump on the victory over ISIS in Mosul,” the white house said in a readout of the telephone conversation. The conversation took place on Friday when the President was returning from the US from Paris aboard Air Force One.

Earlier this week, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi declared victory over ISIS in Mosul and took back the city from the Islamic militants after nine months of fighting that included US and coalition forces.

US Central Command said that some areas of Mosul still need to be cleared from explosive devices.

According to recent reports, some ISIS fighters still might be in hiding, but Iraqi forces were now in firm control of Mosul.

“The two leaders discussed recent diplomatic efforts to resolve the dispute with Qatar and underscored the importance of following through on commitments from the Riyadh Summit,” the White House said in the statement.

Back in May, the President met with Muslim leaders during his first official foreign trip as President.

“In particular, the president emphasized the need to cut all funding for terrorism and discredit extremist ideology,” the White House said.

It is obvious that President Trump gained so much respect from the other World Leaders. During his three foreign trips he had 28 meetings, 50% more than Obama had at the same point of their presidency.
